The Frame® Developer's Kit (FDK) is a development tool that allows users to extend, customize, and create value added applications around FrameMaker® 4, and FrameBuilder®, FDK-based extensions can be as simple as adding a new menu item, or as complex FrameView® 4, as building a totally new application around the Frame formatting engine. The Frame Developer's Kit consists of a set of cross platform development tools including: Frame Application Program Interface (API) and the Frame Development Environment (FDE). The Frame API allows users to write intergrated applications that communicate with Frame objects and sessions directly. The FDE provides a platform-independent environment where applications can be ported simply by recompiling.
